Dr. Nan Liu is currently a professor in the Department of Management Science and Engineering, and Director of Institute of Logistics and Decision Optimization, in School of Management at Zhejiang University. Professor Liu received his B.S. in mathematics from Nankai University, M.S. in urban systems and policy planning from Northwestern University, and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago in USA.

Professor Liu’s research interests include logistics and supply-chain management, transportation economics and management, and port/marine logistics. He has conducted six national-level research grants, including four from the National Natural Science Foundation and two from the National Social Science Foundation. Professor Liu has published numerous academic papers in leading international journals, including Transportation Research-Part B/Part E, International Journal of Production Economics, Journal of Urban Economics, Regional Science and Urban Economics, Maritime Policy and Management, Computers & Industrial Engineering, International Journal of System Science, Journal of Industry and Management Optimization, International Journal of Logistics Management, International Journal of Shipping and Transport Logistics, Journal of Systems Science and Systems Engineering, etc.

Professor Liu is the recipient of New Century Excellent Talents of Year 2005 awarded by Ministry of Education of China. He is a Standing Council Member of China Society of Logistics, and a member of Higher Education Teaching Steering Committee on Logistics Management and Engineering of Ministry of Education of China. Professor Liu is the associate editor of Asia-Pacific Journal of Operational Research.

Professor Chin-Shan Lu is currently a Professor at the Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, acting a Director for the C. Y. Tung International Centre for Maritime Studies and Co-Director for the International Centre for Maritime and Logistics Management (ICMLM). He received his BBA and MBA in the Department of Shipping and Transportation Management, National Taiwan Ocean University, Taiwan, and Ph.D. in Maritime Studies and International Transport from the University of Wales, Cardiff, UK.

Professor Lu started his academic career in 1997 as Assistant Professor at the Cheng Jung Christian University, Taiwan. Later, he served at National Cheng Kung University as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor between 1998 and 2013. Professor Lu also has been acted as a Chairman for the Chinese Maritime Research Institute between 2009 and 2015 and Independent Director for the Kuang Ming Shipping Corporation between 2011-2016 in Taiwan.

Professor Lu is acting an Editor-in-Chief for the Maritime Business Review and Associate Editor for the Maritime Policy & Management (SSCI). He acted Guest Editor of the special Issues for the Transportation Research Part A: Policy and Practice (SSCI), International Journal of Shipping and Transport Logistics (SSCI), International Journal of Logistics Management (SSCI), International Journal of Production Economics (SCI), and Maritime Policy and Management (SSCI). His research interests including shipping operations and management, port operations and management, global logistics operations, and maritime logistics. He has contributed 66 articles to professional journals (include 55 ranked in SSCI/SCI journals), 106 conference papers, 37 research project reports, and 2 textbooks.

Zhihua HU is a professor at the Logistics Research Center of Shanghai Maritime University, China. He got his master degree of computer science and PhD degree of control theory and engineering, and then posted in management science in Chinese universities. His major research interests are in the areas of container terminal and shipping, logistics operations research, intelligent and big data systems. Before being a full-time researcher, he had served for ten years in the automobile, tobacco, logistics and information industries as a software developer and manager. His publications range from computer science, information technologies, intelligent systems, operations research, and logistics. Recently, he tries to apply information and big data technologies to global logistics in the context of One Belt and One Road.

Professor Huang is currently is chief technology officer and senior advisor of Cosco Network e-Logistics Co. Ltd. During July 1998-Oct 2005, he severed for the Cosco Americas, Inc. as General Manager IT. During May 1995-July 1998, he was the Director of Operational Dept of Information System Center, Cosco Group. During May 1981-May 1995, He served for the Qingdao Ocean Shipping Mariner College as the Dean of Marine Engineering Dept., Director of college research institute, Lecturer, Professor.

He received his post and undergraduate study from Dalian University in 1981. After that, He completed his Research study in Marine Automation Lab. from Ship Operation Institute in Fachhochschulle Flensburg, Germany in 1984. In 1984, Professor Huang joined the MSc Marine Engineering, Research Study of University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.

Professor Hunag is the Recipient of China State Council Special Allowance for Outstanding Contribution as well as the Honorable Professor of Dalian Maritime University. He also is the Visiting Professor of Tsinghua University and Zhejiang University (Faculty of Software). In addition, he was invited to speak for many national and international conferences of logistics industry.

Dr. Qiang Meng is currently a Professor in Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at National University of Singapore (NUS), Track Leader in the Centre for Maritime Studies (CMS), Co-director of NUS-LTA Transportation Research Centre, and Urban Mobility Expert Panel Member of National Research Fund of Singapore under the Prime Minister’s Office of Singapore. He received his PhD from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2000. His research focuses include transportation network modeling and optimization, shipping and intermodal freight transportation network analysis, and quantitative risk assessment of transport operations. He has published more than 140 SCI/SSCI articles on the leading transportation and logistics journals with the SCI index rate of 28. Some of his studies have been successfully used by the transportation and maritime industries, including QRAFT – a software package for the quantitative risk assessment of urban road tunnels, and FSA – Formal Safety Assessment System for Ship Traffic in Port Waters. He is an Associate Editor of Transportation Research Part B, Journal of Transportation Engineering (ASCE) and Transportation Research Part E. He has clinched a number of awards and prizes, including Outstanding Alumni Award of Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2016, OCDI Takeuchi Yoshio Logistics Award in 2016, Dean’s Chair in Faculty of Engineering at NUS in 2015, the 13th World Conference on Transportation Research (WCTR) Society Prize for the best paper (2013), Best Paper Award for Methodological Development in the 9th EASTS (East Asia Society for Transportation Studies) International Conference (2011), Best Paper Award of AHB40 - Highway Capacity and Quality of Service Committee - in the 90th TRB Annual Meeting (2011) and Singapore MOT (Ministry of Transportation) Minister’s Innovation Award 2009.

Ning Tao obtained his master degree from Dalian Maritime University in 2003. Now he is director of the Centre for Economics, Policy and Development Strategy, China Waterborne Transport Research Institute, Ministry of Transportation, China. He has been engaged in water transport management consulting and research for many years, focusing on water transport strategy, waterborne research economic and policy research.

Since 2003, he completed nearly 50 consulting projects, including 6 major projects of Ministry of Transport, 2 projects of State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC). These project includes but not limited to: Promotion of China's Ports Transformation and Upgrading Policy, Research on Development Strategy of Maritime Transport Power, Research on China's Water Transport Development Strategy, The Policy of Promoting Sustainable Development of Marine Industry in China, Early Warning Mechanism of China’s Water Transport Monitoring, Research on Statistical Index and Calculation Method of Coastal Ports Economic Contribution and so on.

He has awarded Scientific and Technological first place prize once, third place prize twice by China Institute of Navigation, first, second and third place prize once by China Ports & Harbours Association and Excellent Water Transport Engineering Consulting Achievements second place prize once by Ministry of Transport. Theo Notteboom is a professor in port and maritime economics and management. His work is widely cited. He is a regular speaker at international conferences and a rapporteur/expert to leading organizations in the field. He is Chair Professor at Ghent University in Belgium and a visiting Research Professor at China Institute of FTZ Supply Chain of Shanghai Maritime University. He also is part-time Professor at University of Antwerp and the Antwerp Maritime Academy in Belgium. He is co-director of www.porteconomics.eu, a knowledge dissemination platform on port studies. He previously held a full-time position as High-end Foreign Expert / Professor at Dalian Maritime University in China (2014-2016) and an MPA visiting professorship in port management at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. He is immediate past President (2010-2014) and Council Member of International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME). Between October 2006 and October 2014 he was President of ITMMA of the University of Antwerp. Between 2009 and 2014 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Belgian Institute of Transport Organizers (BITO), an institute of the Belgian Federal Government.

At the National Taiwan Ocean University Professor Shang has been Head of the Department of Transportation Science (2010-2012). In addition he also acted as an Editor-in-Chief of Maritime Quarterly and an editor of Maritime Business Review

Professor Shang’s recent research addresses the issues of sustainable supply chain management, supply chain resilience, green shipping and port, and cold chain logistics in the context of logistics, shipping and port sectors.

He began his career in 1973 and has experience in the full range of maritime practice, on corporate, ship acquisition, financing, ship-management (shipbuilding & Repairs, Technical & Maintenance, Marine Insurance, Chartering, Operations & Agency, Legal & Disputes) and project financing (Harbour and other infrastructures). He served as a Director of the Charterers P&I Club. He is currently an Executive Committee member of the Hong Kong Logistics Management Staff Association. He was appointed Sector Specialist for Transport & Logistics by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic Qualifications until 31 December 2013.

Jingxin Xu (Ruxue Xu), senior economist, senior manager of Ningbo Zhoushan Port Group Co., Ltd. He graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He has worked in Ningbo port for more than 20 years. He has taken charge of dock production scheduling, adjustment of container handling rate model, development of container domestic feeder, marketing of the container business, integration of subsidiary logistics corporation and so on. He also participated in a number of research projects organized by the Ningbo municipal government, Ningbo municipal CPPCC and other government departments. Several research results have been adopted by the government, and won the outstanding achievements of the Ningbo Party and Government System Research Award. He has published a number of academic papers in domestic core journals and won the Ningbo prize for natural science papers. The new model of container handling rate designed by him has made a significant contribution to the rapid and sustainable development of container transportation in Ningbo port and has been used so far.

Anming Zhang is a Full Professor in Operations and Logistics and holds Vancouver International Airport Authority Chair Professor in Air Transportation at Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia (UBC). He served as the Chair of the Operations and Logistics Division, Sauder School of Business (2003-2005), and as the Director of UBC’s Centre for Transport Studies (2003-2004). He has been the Vice President (Academic & Program) for the World Air Transport Research Society (ATRS) since 2006. Dr. Zhang is the recipient of the “Yokohama Special Prize for Outstanding Young Researcher” awarded at the 7th World Conference on Transportation Research (WCTR) in Sydney, Australia in 1995, and of the “WCTR-Society Prize”, awarded to the overall best paper of the 8th WCTR in Antwerp, Belgium, in 1998. In June 2014, he won the “Best Overall Paper Prize” at the ITEA (International Transport Economics Association) Conference on Transportation Economics, Toulouse School of Economics, France.

Dr. Zhang has published over 140 refereed journal papers in the areas of transportation, logistics, industrial organization, and trade policy. He has co-authored two recent books: Globalization and Strategic Alliances: The Case of the Airline Industry, 2000, Pergamon Press, Oxford; and Air Cargo in Mainland China and Hong Kong, 2004, Ashgate, London (Chinese editions published both in Hong Kong and Mainland China).
